An early test shot with my Oktomat toy camera. (It had been sitting undeveloped for some time now.) Basically, the camera has eight shutters and fires in quick succession on a single frame of film.

It’s the weekend, so of course I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.

Dinner at Wild Rice last night was fantastic. Soooo good, and the place has a great atmosphere. I had the Kung Pao chicken along with some seared halibut and shrimp conji. Will definitely go back again.
Afterward, saw The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, which was great - albeit incredibly depressing.
Today: cleaning, some writing, and then later this evening I’m getting together with a small group for drinks.

Do you want to be featured in the video sidebar at 14 Giants? Got something to say? A diet tip? A video comment? A love letter to The Darcys? (They do read the site.) Upload your video to YouTube (it’s the easiest to embed), drop me a line with a link to your video, and you might have your say. You don’t even have to appear personally if you don’t want to. Hold up a note, sing a song about 14G off-camera… doesn’t matter. Hell, I’ll even keep your submission anonymous if you’d prefer.
Don’t let the number of comments fool you. 14G reaches hundreds of readers per day! And growing!

Tonight, I am leaving the sanctity of Fatty’s Palace to venture out into the world. To be among people.
For food, of course!
Destination? Wild Rice!

Is it just me, or does Wild Rice bear a strong resemblance to Ten Forward from Star Trek: The Next Generation?
Anyway, I hear it’s good. I probably should have gone there by now, but you’d be amazed (or maybe you wouldn’t) how poor my knowledge of Vancouver restaurants is, even after living in the city (off and on) for 10 years. It’s rather embarrassing. But until now, it’s always been a question of time and/or money.
And location. Most of the hotspots are downtown, and I live in the burbs. That makes a difference too.

Oh how long ago November 5th seems!
Last night the boys burned up the stage in Saskatoon with The Bicycles. I’m sure the house was on fi-yah!
Only one more date left on the tour: Saturday night in Sault St. Marie, Ontario!
We (my unpaid interns and I) couldn’t be prouder.
[sniff]

I’m toying with the idea of purchasing an iMac next year. I think it’s high time I began my music career and started working on some GarageBand demos.
Dream big, kids.
Dream big.

My 2009 is shaping up. Continents are starting to move. Stars aligning and all that. It’s looking pretty scary right now. Charlie Brown and the football. I may go “batshit crazy.” Even though I already am.
I’d be updating 14G Radio right now, but the free trial of my FTP program expired and now - even though I’ve got a new freeware version - I have no clue how to connect it to my web host. This may take some time. Pity: I have an awesome 80s lineup for you. Who doesn’t love extended Rick Astley mixes?
I should have new Holga shots later tomorrow. Yes, of The Darcys! E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G!
Speaking of, The Darcys have now spent every moment of the past two weeks together in a van and may or may not be going insane.

It’s Charlie Manson and Hard Core Logo rolled up in one.
I like it!

I was asked that question a few times at Cafe Deux Soleils last week. And I died a little inside each time.
“No,” I replied. “I’m not. [sniff] Now, if you’ll excuse me, my face seems to be leaking.”
Anyway, that’s Wes pictured above, live at CJSW in Calgary.
After two weeks on the road, The Darcys are well on their way home - they’re expected to arrive back in Toronto on the 16th. But before that happens, they’ve got more shows to do! Tomorrow night: Saskatoon!
