Music, Ramblings

Super! Market!

Wow. Just… wow.

What can I say? There are… no… words.

I (along with three friends) attended The Darcys’ show last night at Supermarket, and it did not disappoint. A Darcys show, live and in the flesh, is everything I imagined. Even my friends, who knew nothing of The Darcys, were impressed by the musicianship and stage presence of the band. The guys led a tight, energetic set, strutted like peacocks, and played off each other’s moves brilliantly. Between 11:45pm and 1:00am, they played 11 songs - many of my favorites from the current record. They even closed the evening with a spirited cover of Bon Jovi’s 80s classic, “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

I gave up taking photos early into the set. I was in Darcy overload. If I was a pinball machine, there would have been a sign flashing “Tilt! Tilt!”

I’ll sift through the video fragments I’ve got, and will post something in the next day or so. I know that I didn’t get any songs in their entirety, but a wee clip or two would convey the energy on stage. (See the band’s website for more upcoming tour dates. You should definitely go and check them out if you can.)

It’s still hard to believe. I saw The Darcys perform live. In. Person. How does one go back to living a normal life afterward? This must be how those kids from Narnia feel. (Minus the talking lion of course.)

I talked to each of the guys separately on my way out after the show, and expressed my thanks. Many were concerned about whether or not I had a good time.

I had a great time.

Now that the planets have aligned, destiny has been fulfilled, etc., I suppose the ground is going to crack open and swallow me up. I mean, my time on Earth is complete, right?
