Appears so! From the new book, Robertson Davies: A Portrait in Mosaic, which arrived in my mailbox:
Every boy I have known has had [a homosexual spell], some lasting a short time and some longer (my own was a week during which I was blinded by a lad who played Maria in Twelfth Night at [Upper Canada College], in which I was Malvolio, but I said nothing to him about it, but hugged my passion as a secret). The excerpt above comes from a letter Davies wrote to a friend in 1934. In this letter, the author (then 21 years old) confessed that Upper Canada College’s theatre program - which had a long tradition of all-male Shakespeare revivals - was the setting of many (read: many) adolescent male crushes.
